Update: In response to criticism, Jefferson Bethke had this to say last Friday on Facebook, "If you are using my video to bash ‘the church’ be careful. I was in no way intending to do that…The Church is Jesus’ bride so be careful how you speak of His wife. If a normal dude has right to get upset when you bash His wife, it makes me tremble to think how great the weight is when we do it to Jesus’ wife. The church is His vehicle to reach a lost world. A hospital for sinners. Saying you love Jesus but hate the Church, is like a fiancé saying he loves his future bride, but hates her kids. We are all under grace. Look to Him."
This guy is talking about false religion, not all religion! I just wanted to clarify!
I think what this guy is saying in this video, Why I hate religion, but love Jesus, is this, text from God, Acts 4:12, "There is no way to be saved from the punishment of sin through anyone else. For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved.” Jesus Christ is the only One in this universe who died to save us.
In this video, this guy wasn't talking against attending church, but was talking about religious hypocrites. John 12:43, "They loved praise from people more than praise from God." Matthew 5:30, "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." Isaiah 64:6, " All of us are dirty with sin.
All the right things we have done are like filthy pieces of cloth.
All of us are like dead leaves,
and our sins, like the wind, have carried us away." There is nothing good we can do that will save us. We must have the righteousness of Jesus to justify us, and His power to change our hearts and lives. We are totally dependent on Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin and salvation! Text from God, 1 John 1:7, "If we live in the light as He is in the light, we share what we have in God with each other. And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, makes our lives clean from all sin."
So, don't pretend you don't have issues, don't pretend you're better than others. Just admit your need of Jesus and give Him your heart:-) He is the One mighty to save! Zephaniah 3:17, "The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing."
