I'm posting this in response to my mother's death, and funeral today:-)
In the Holy Bible, Jesus spoke of death as a sleep on numerous occasions. In John 11 Jesus told the disciples that Lazarus was sleeping, and they told Jesus that if he was sleeping he would wake up. Jesus told them plainly, "He is dead." Mary told Jesus that if He would have been there, her brother would not have died, but acknowledged she knew he would be resurrected at the last day(Jesus' second coming). When you are in a deep sleep, you are unaware of what's going on around you, and Jesus said death is like a sleep. Lazarus was called forth, not down from heaven. The Bible doesn't mention a word about Lazarus being in heaven while he was dead. How would he have felt if Jesus would have called him down here from heaven back to this dark earth, just to die again at some point?
The next thing those who died, having accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour will hear, wll be the voice of Jesus saying arise, awake!!!!!!! Just as Jesus came out of the tomb and conquered death, so those who believed He did that for them, will also be raised by Jesus, to live forever in joy and peace. Death will no longer be able to destroy them, a living soul!
In John 20:17 it says that Jesus told Mary, "Do not touch me for I have not yet ascended." He mentioned nothing about going to heaven or anywhere else whille he was in the tomb.
In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 it says, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words. Isn't that awesome news!!! If you have lost a loved one, Paul says that they will be resurrected and will fly through the air with you to meet Jesus! You will get to see the joy on their face and they will see the joy on yours! Praise God!
There are many more scriptures we could go over, and if you are interested in more, please feel free to contact my e-mail!
To sum it up, the dead do not know anything, the Bible says. Satan wants you to believe that they do, because he would like to try to use that to put ideas into your mind and to receive worship from you through a supposed dead loved one, or through fake miracles and entertainment. Revelation 16:14 says that there are spirits of devils working miracles. If you are watching a tv program and someone is supposedly talking to the dead, shut it off! It is actually demons they are conversing with. They can make themselves look, sound and act like anyone. The Bible says satan transforms himself into an angel of light(2 Corinthians 11:14), and he did so when he was tempting Jesus in the wilderness. Don't go by feeling, go by the Bible and the Bible only!
I worked with someone who thought her dead father was living with her, and things would be moved in the house when she would get home. She and her husband moved to a trailer and invited her "father" to move in with them. When I shared the truth with her about it, she went home and in the name of Jesus, Jesus sent them running, and she never had another incident. That proves where it was from. All you have to do is say the name Jesus, and darkness has to flee, because darkness has already been defeated by our sweet Jesus!!!!!!!
